I just bought a JD 750. It was from a dealer in used equipment. He was not sure of the year but said the serial number would tell for sure. In the heat ofnegotiation, I forgot to get the year. The serial number is CH075USO16319. Can anyone tell me what year my tractor is? It didn't come with any manuals. What is a good source of manuals for the John Deere? TIA, Dave

DJE: 1981- Beginning Serial Number (BSN)=1000 ; 1982 - BSN=3448; 1983 - BSN=5613; 1984 - BSN=8957; 1985 - BSN=13001; 1986 - BSN=18501; 1987 - BSN=22601; 1988 - BSN=26401. Seems your tractor, SN16319, is a 1985. John Deere has an 800 number where you can order manuals (owner's or service or parts) for almost everything they have ever made. The manuals cost more than you might think. Probably $30 to $50 for an owner's manual and $50 to $100 for a service manual for tractors. Plus shipping. I don't have the 800 number handy, but you can probably get it from the JD web site. Up until a few years ago, JD published a $2.50 manual listing all the manuals they had written. They don't do this any more, but I'm sure some dealers still have copies of this that they would let you look at. It's pretty much the only way to know what was written about any particular piece of equipment. And it probably doesn't cost anything more to order a manual through a dealer than it would to order it yourself via the 800 number. Good luck. ....
